The new Manifattura Tabacchi is reborn in the former cigar factory, active for over seventy years and abandoned since 2001.

The ambitious regeneration project aims to create a new city district, animated by the fashion creative energy, art and design, complementary to the historic center, open to all and connected to the world: the new destination for contemporary art in Florence.

The Masterplan foresees an articulated functional mix where the original buildings and the new ones host schools, ateliers and laboratories, offices and co-working spaces, residential lofts, a hotel, a student residence and a brewery.

The redevelopment project:

1. Minimizes demolition;
2. Makes the original buildings more efficient and sustainable with geothermal energy and water resources active management;
3. Involves the planting of more than 1000 new trees on the site and a new garden suspended over the central building (B11), in order to reduce CO2 emissions and improve air quality.
