Work has started on the Technical-Economic Feasibility Project and Final Design of the railway station improvement interventions in the South planned under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRP). The Temporary Design Group, to which RFI entrusted the activities, is composed of Politecnica (Group Leader), PRO ITER, Hydea, F&M Ingegneria, Lombardi Ingegneria and Smart Engineering.

In particular, PRO ITER will be in charge of the interventions related to the Crotone and Catanzaro Lido stations: in both cases, the Final Design will be carried out according to a BIM process.

Briefly, the activities will consist of:
◼ Docks restyling with related facilities, signage and tactile paths.
◼ Access underpasses restyling.
◼ Stairwells and elevators adaptation or renovation.
◼ Canopies demolition and reconstruction or restyling with associated fittings.
◼ Seismic vulnerability verification of buildings.
◼ Interventions on in-building installations.
◼ Station yards reorganization for modal interchange.

In the sustainability area, regulatory requirements should be checked against the principles:
◼ DNSH (Do Not Significant Harm) in order not to cause significant harm to the environment.
◼ CAM (Minimum Environmental Criteria) assessment in order to provide the best product or service from an environmental perspective along the life cycle.
◼ LEED Sustainability Protocol (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), which promotes a sustainability-oriented approach, recognizing building performance such as energy and water savings, reduction of CO2 emissions, and improvement of the ecological quality of interior materials and resources.
◼ ENVISION Sustainability Protocol, the rating system for building sustainable infrastructure.
