The Environmental Audit is a verification process, systematic and documented, to provide objective evidence that certain activities, conditions, environmental management systems, comply with the criteria set for the audit and to communicate the results of this process.
Among the possible objectives of an Environmental Audit are: to establish compliance with a standard (ISO 14001 or EMAS), to improve compliance with mandatory laws, to pursue continuous improvement of environmental performance, to identify potential critical issues, to determine whether the Management System adopted is properly implemented and maintained. The reference standard that contains the guidelines for proper management of audit processes is ISO 19011.
Depending on the client, the objective and the field of application a distinction is made between:

The auditor of Pro Iter Ambiente also played a fundamental role in supporting the development of an application containing a checklist for the execution of party audits, highlighting, during the on-site checks, any criticalities in the use of the application.
A systematic verification carried out through the audit allows to minimize risks, to provide assurance to stakeholders (shareholders, employees, management, customers) and to define precise priorities of intervention for the achievement of compliance, risk reduction and process improvement.
The execution of partial audits by Pro Iter Ambiente has allowed to identify and resolve any critical issues in view of third party audits carried out with the certification body.
